DO YOU WONDER WHERE OUR WATER COMES FROM AND WHERE IT GOES AFTER WE USE IT?

WATER-Chemistry and Consciousness is an interactive program exploring water at the molecular, local watershed, and global levels. This workshop is delivered live through discussion and demonstrations and is most suitable for teens or young adults who have an interest in science, environmental stewardship, and equity. 

The workshop is presented in three sessions of approximately 2 hours each. The first session focuses on fundamental water chemistry, the infinitesimal and inference through evidence. During the second session, we will consider water flow at the community and watershed level. In our final session, we’ll zoom out to the planetary picture. Participants gain scientific understanding of water's unique behavior and role in daily life along with local context and global awareness of this essential substance.

Workshop is led by chemist and science educator, Teddi Ann Galligan. Ms. Galligan draws from firsthand experience living in communities where safe drinking water is a daily issue. Her laboratory experience includes clinical laboratory work in a low-resource setting, drinking water quality analysis and wastewater analysis for a sustainable sanitation technology.
